this portrait session was unbelievably fun. as i mentioned in my last blog post, i “met” carina online when i stumbled across her and bree’s blog. we met, we schemed, we laughed, we drank coffee (or was it tea?). carina’s portrait session was planned for a saturday afternoon. being the total outdoor-enthusiasts that they are, we decided that we’d totally hike up to the top of quarry rock… the kids could totally do it… no prob ;) and you know, i really do believe they could have… if it weren’t for the TORRENTIAL rain. we were warned… the weather forecast was not looking good all week. i emailed carina the night before… you’ve got three options; a) we can reschedule (which would be crazy considering we both have nutty busy lives right now!), b) we can move it indoors (which just doesn’t feel right for this fam), or c) say a big fat EFF YOU WEATHER and do the portrait session anyway! she liked option c! so we planned a very wet-coast, vancouver-style portrait session, outdoors in the pouring rain. and it was fantastic! we brought tarps but didn’t use them. we brought umbrellas… but didn’t use them. we used the elements. we used the incredible scenery that is british columbia. we hiked up a hill. we slipped. we laughed. we nearly cried. we made beautiful memories. but first we had tea and hot chocolate at an adorable new cafe in deep cove to work up the nerve to step out into that rain ;)
someday i’d like to hike to the top of quarry rock and do a portrait session up there. i hear it’s beautiful. that day wasn’t this one, which is fine. because what we did capture, was magic. here are my favs.
